My Story

2004 CHICAGO — I started my career as a digital media buyer in the great city of Chicago on clients like Windex, Pledge and Disney.

2009 CAYMAN ISLANDS — I loved the fast pace of agency life but traded it in for the chance to experience endless summers in paradise. It was while working at a photography technology company on a tiny rock in the Caribbean that I learned brands can be strengthened with hustle and urgency in the absence of big budgets. I worked on a distributed team managing teams around the world.

2014 UK — In Jan of 2014 I moved to the UK to begin a Masters program with a creative school called Hyper Island. I stretched and challenged parts of my brain that were cobwebbed and dusty, and emerged in June with new tools for creative problem solving and an open mind for the future.

2014 BOSTON — Today I’m working with the current Fall 2014 cohort at Techstars and helping the teams with business development, UX research, creative problem solving, marketing and anything else they need as they race towards Demo Day in mid-November.

2015 MIAMI — In 2015, I’m moving to Miami and I’m looking to join a distributed team in a Strategy or Customer Experience role. I’m ready for the next adventure!

My Process

My Skills

I talk to customers and use insights to create content and streamline processes to make their experience a great one.

I design and execute strategies for reaching the right person in the right place at the right time.

I develop creative approaches to solve for complex research questions, analyze the results and work with product teams to prototype solutions.

I don’t have all the answers, but I’ll ask questions, make connections and fail quickly to get there faster. Take this website, for example – never done this before!

Techstars | Associate
Fall 2014 Cohort
Boston, MA
As an Associate, I worked across the twelve tech startups in the Boston class. My goals for the program were to offer skills in my comfort zone – i.e. digital marketing and copywriting, while learning more about user experience research. I ran workshops on developing customer personas; created surveys and customer interviews to define target markets; and conducted research to influence product design. While at Techstars, I also completed my Master’s thesis on designing productive and collaborative working environments for early-stage startups.

The Image Group | Customer Experience; Marketing Project Manager
2012 – 2013
Cayman Islands
In this role, my goals were to establish the Image brand and to streamline the customer experience. My major projects were completed by working with executive level leaders while managing teams remotely:
Image.com: I delivered on the initial brief of relaunching the corporate website and pushed it further by recommending to move the employee recruitment process online. Image hires hundreds of photographers on short-term contracts every year. By moving this process online, Image saved money by decreasing their reliance on recruiters and saved time by adding qualifiers to filter applicants. Despite the additions to the brief, I delivered the project on time and under budget.
Global Re-Branding: I defined a strategy for a re-brand of all consumer products and then hired an agency to refine and execute on the strategy. I managed the branding agency and the in-house design team at Image through project completion.

2010 – 2013
Cayman Islands
I managed remote teams of designers and developers to launch the first platform in the cruise photo concession industry to offer pre and post cruise vacation photo sales. I managed the inventory, pricing and promotions whilst consistently overachieving on revenue goals. I encouraged the development of a feature that streamlined the pricing and inventory process, automating 12+ hours of manual data entry per month. I was a driving force in transforming the Customer Service department from email to a self-help platform and executed this project by writing help content and training the Customer Service agents.

I started my career in advertising agencies managing digital media strategy for brands including Pledge, OFF!, Scrubbing Bubbles, Oracle and Southwest Airlines. I managed teams of media planners and transformed media budgets into digital programs designed to engage customers and drive sales. The primary skills honed during my time in agencies were negotiation, pulling insights from large amounts of data and collaborating with creative teams. I have used these three skills in every job I’ve held since.
